Georgetown, DC has many historic homes, but this townhouse, recently profiled in House Beautiful and designed by Hillary Thomas and Jeff Lincoln, was built in the 1960s. Since it was in my neck of the woods, I was very interested in the home. While some rooms I found a little “busy” for my personal taste, the home had some ravishing rooms as well.
I thought you might enjoy looking at it as well…
For a small foyer, having a table with an open design is smart…and I love it! Plus, with black and white pieces, you can switch them where ever you want throughout your house – and in the case of this table, even outside. I have several pieces like this that I switch from room to room.
And I always think the details matter – notice the grate.

Gives a peek of the kitchen.
Kitchen and Lucite bar stools. (Lucite and leather Whiz barstools from Paston Rawleigh Everett. Cabinetry by Boffi.)
Blue living room. With a long, narrow room it is best to divide it up into “functions”. (Red glass Planet S chandeliers from La Murrina)
Because it is SO narrow, but additional seating may be needed, above is a wildly attractive option.
Lucite game table and leather chairs, which I am in LOVE with (by Kendall Wilkinson).
The dining room. How fabulous is the chandelier??? It’s French from the 1940s
A silver ceiling and lacquered walls/bookcases in the library
Solarium with feminine colors…
Classic black and white outdoor furniture…
a vignette of an inlaid bone table.
Very mid century in design, from the furniture to the walls…
I hope you all enjoyed the peek into this house and have a great weekend planned! My plans? DIY projects….LOVE it!!!! 🙂
Love that blue tile work in the kitchen!
I was going through them, thinking “ooh I like that one..no I prefer that one…no that one’s better…actually that one is”
You done a good job finding some fantastic ones.
Thank you! I was thinking about you the other day as I was trying to clean up my youngest daughter’s room, so I can take pictures for my blog. Problem is, she goes behind me, pulling out books and toys! She’s too young to understand either – ugh!!
LOL. My daughter’s 13
She’s with her mum for a week, so that gives me Sunday and Monday to try and do something about her room. She has tidied it up quite a bit before she left … it’s just the stuff she takes out of her school bag that I pretend I don’t see that need to be sorted now hehe
In a few years we are wanting to find/build our dream home. The thought overwhelm me because I am an so timid and undecided when it comes to interior design. I am loving your blog and getting some pretty crazy ideas. My husband will not know who I am! 🙂
I can tell anyone what to do in their house…but in my house, I agonize over ever little decision! It takes me forever.. If I see pictures I like, I download them, rip them, save them, whatever, it helps me!
Great pictures. Love them all.
Cynthia
LOVE Mid Century, one of my fav looks!
That chandalier is on my wishlist!
This Piece of work is just FUN!!!!! Love it! Great take on dispaying personality in period architecture!
love that dining room
My eyes keep going to the lighting in the photos – thanks for sharing! Have a Great Weekend!
I LOVE that “striped” entrance…that mirror!!!
Oh that was fun! I adore the dinning room and the chandelier!!!! I like the outdoor space also. I really like to see old trees in a yard.
I love that long narrow room with the fireplace in the center…it makes so much sense. Ditto for the little library area … books are a wonderful way to add coziness to a room’s decor. The black and white floor tiles in your first couple of photos, are real eye-catchers,too. Nice share. 🙂
Inspirational!
I agree with you that part of that house is a bit too busy though I generally love it. The small foyer with the marble floors is so pretty. Love the marble floors. Thank you for sharing & the ideas…
Very nice. Some interesting wallpaper in there.
Love the blue and black tile! So elegant looking.

Love the b&w striped wallpaper… wish I were that bold!

Ooooh that place is divine!!!!!
I agree that some of the rooms are too busy. I like the skylight. Thanks for sharing, Jay
The black and white is so striking especially when paired with teal blue. Beautiful.
I love the French chandelier!
Nice post! Such a bold and rare find for Georgetown!
I really like the small foyer and the black color used in the entryway is beautiful
The dining room and the solarium are lovely. The French chandelier is unusual and very ornate.
I love the library room above all. It is so hard to find a library in todays’s home.
The library is my favorite…the silver ceiling is a nice touch and I want that couch.
