I am so sorry this took so long!!! I wanted to offset the white kitchens I’ve shown with some colorful options, however, it was not an easy endeavor. I had a few, but I wanted to show a large range to cover everyone’s style….
I had imagined splashes of vibrant colors, but those were usually on the walls offsetting white cabinets. While I did find some with vibrant colors, I mostly found a trend towards dark “neutrals”: greys, taupes and blacks. Buttery yellow and creams were in abundance, but some were so light, that I really thought they belonged in the white category!
So, without further ado:
I think I’ve made no secret about my love for black and white flooring…coupled with black cabinets, it looks sharp! via John Jacob Interiors
This range is just crazy beautiful!!! The brass knobs, the matching hood, the rich, deep color! It’s a La Cornue range and the make them in just about every color. I’ll take one of each 🙂
Pea green La Cornue cabinets…
and white. Believe it or not, all of these 3 pictures above were in the same kitchen! Talk about not afraid of color!! La Cornue cabinets are made of steel with baked enamel. Designers: Carey Maloney and Hermes Mallea.
Two large drum pendants hang with shades that are mirrored – fabulous!!!
A retro, turquoise blue kitchen – A mix of old and new – the light fixtures are from the 1960’s. They carried the blue into the cabinets and ceiling too….Designers: William Diamond and Anthony Baratta.
Ok, ok…a little bit of a cheat with the white cabinets but I wanted to show the dark forest green on the walls, which is an unusual choice, but paired with a black china cabinet trimmed in gold, it works!
Look at the legs of this island!!
An industrial looking kitchen, but the round light fixtures offset the hard look….
You wouldn’t even know that there is a kitchen in here!!!
The glimpse of a sink is the only thing that gives it away!
Designer Kathy Smith used beige, gold, brown – colors that were played throughout the entire house. Via House Beautiful
LOVE this!!! A soft grey with mirrored cabinets…TWO tables, serving as islands (movable – how handy!!)!! Offsetting the elegant color, which could be boring or somber, stainless steel and chrome to give it shine and lighten it up.
Johnathon Adler used green to liven up the white kitchen and stocked the shelves with his line of pottery, an solution that any homeowner wishing to change their color scheme can do… Via House Beautiful
A traditional kitchen – maybe should be in the white category – but has creamy cabinets that are taken up to the walls.
Kay Douglass opts for a sophisticated grey-green kitchen and an untreated cypress ceiling. With such a somber color choice, having shine and reflective objects is key.
Designer Marshall Watson, who took into account durability and the corrosion factor of salt air, gave the kitchen in this beach house a nautical theme with blue and white.
A kitchen with an antique Tuscan feel designed by Fern Santini using a traditional weathered sage green and sunset yellows with waxed wooden beams on the ceiling.
An ingenious, space-saving solution to an eat-in kitchen. Designed by Kevin Ritter, who made all the cabinetry and furniture!
Nancy Boszhardt designed this kitchen with wide planked floors and a La Cornue range.
Designer Jay Jeffers paneled the kitchen, including the dishwasher and refrigerator, and added red accents for contrast. Jay Jeffers said, “Paneling makes a kitchen feel more like a real room than strictly a work space.”
An unmovable 4-by-4-foot column with electrical wiring and plumbing stands in the middle of the kitchen, so designer Sandra Bird built it into four areas: a cooking area with the range, a buffet for the table, a desk, and then a baking area in back.
I hoped you enjoyed these fantasy kitchens and, if so, will consider following my blog! Thank you!!
I really love the way the colours just pop in these kitchens. They are amazing. I think the green was my favourite as it was so different! I wish I had as much of a decorating knack to transform my kitchen like this…
Thanks for the amazing images – may have to try to add little bits and pieces to my own home.
I’m so glad that you are looking to add “bits and pieces” from these images!! That’s what I do!! After I admire the beauty, I start looking for things that I could add to my own 🙂 Some of the features/details/accessories can be copied and applied. Thanks for reading and commenting!!
I love all the white ones with a hint of blue. They look so fresh and clean. Maybe I would just like to be at the beach. I love all that light!
Beautiful
Love those enamel La Cornue cabinets. You could put in an old commercial, enamel Ice Box (I’ve also heard their working on a new frig in an ice box style).
I love the ones with the warmer colors…….makes me wish I had unlimited funds…..
I absolutely love a black and white checkerboard floor! It’s a dream of mine 🙂
Love this! We’re just putting in purple base units and white wall ones and think we’re being a bit daring. Nothing compared to some of these!
Wow!!! That sounds just amazing!!! I hope you intend upon taking pictures and posting! I have never seen that combination but I can definitely picture it. You have a brilliant eye to come up with that unique combination. And, if you are putting them in yourselves, that alone qualifies for daring 😉
Thanks! We can’t take full credit, we saw it in the showroom and fell in love! Pic here (ours isn’t up yet) – http://housetohome.media.ipcdigital.co.uk/96%7C00000e089%7C65a1_orh550w550_rt-1-BQ-CookeLewis-Cream-with-Aubergine.jpg
Can’t take credit for putting it in, my husband is doing all the work. I’m just fetcher/carrier/cook. 🙂
wow. what gorgeous kitchens. I love the House Beautiful grey island. so cozy.
The retro blue colour and the industrial are my dream kitchens. This blog is a nice peek into glamour since my kids destroy any magazine I try to read. We’ve been doing outside retrofitting, concrete smashing and the like so nut much detail on the interior but we’ll get there. This site is giving me ideas so thank you!
Thank you!!! My children (and dogs) do the same thing! I used to tear out pictures and keep them in a file, but then found I rarely went back to look at them 😦
I’ve never done concrete smashing, but I can only imagine how hard that is!! On shows, I’ve seen them use sledge hammers (whew!) and jack hammers (their bodies still vibrated for hours afterwards!!) and they keep the pieces for dry-stacked walls or to fill in dips in yards.
I do hope I can give you some ideas!!! I’m not sure if it is better to post often or post less but have longer posts with more content – but I have a lot of posts and info in the hopper 🙂
I hope your little ones have gotten better and have recovered from the ear infection…but more importantly the testing comes back negative….
Love the red range. I probably would never want to cook anything on it. Also, I love the shot from Elle Decor – I believe it’s Meg Ryan’s kitchen. I now have another reason to like her.
Yes, it is Meg Ryan’s kitchen as noted below the picture. I’m not sure what I expected from her, but this wasn’t it! I like the mix of the old table with the new cabinets. I will have to post some other celebrity kitchens. And that red range! It is so amazing!!
All of the kitchens shown are way out of my budget limits, but it is fun looking anyway.
I love all of them and would love to have any of them!!
Cheers,
Jen
Thanks for the kitchens with color. No matter what, I need to have windows, so those kitchens appeal most to me. Nonetheless, they are all pretty great! Keep up the great blog.
A veritable smorgasbord of colorful kitchens. What a wonderful feast. Well done!
I just LOVE that you are doing all the hard work for us… compiling these great collections!!! These kitchens leave me hungry for more!!! 🙂
Oh good!!! I try to get the very best pictures that cover a range of styles while still keeping the standards high. It’s been taking me a while, but I’m getting better!! I have a LOT of posts in the hopper with so many pictures…I’m not sure if it is better to post often with less info or less often with more info?? So, I’m still trying to balance that!
Thank you for visiting and I hope I continue to keep you wanting more 🙂
good pace so far!!
I loved the bright green and turquoise!!! Amazing!
I think my favorite was Jay Jeffers design. It looked so fresh!
Um, wow! I am practicaly drooling over here. These kitchens seriously rock! Thanks for the great post!
Well, now you’ve done it! I would love a modern kitchen with slate, stone and forest green! Unfortunately, I have tan and tile. Oh well, a girl can dream!
I’m going to post some more kitchens with color… I will look for some with tan/tan tile. Maybe there will be some that you can get some inspiration from in terms of paint color, accessories, etc…You could also paint your cabinets, but I know with little ones it is hard to do projects! Thank you for following me!!! I really appreciate it!
WOW! Such beautiful inspirations!! I could actually live on that black and white floor. Love it.
Hard to decide which is best. But most of these kitchens are as large as my rental cottage, minus the bedroom.
I need a new kitchen! And I don’t really even cook. These make me so jealous! 🙂
Stunning collection of kitchens! I have to say I love the green House Beautiful kitchen near the top. Quite a fresh color choice. Great post!!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you saying that!
Thank you for showing so many options in color in kitchens! It’s hard work to search for photos that are inspiring. I have opted for a creamy neutral kitchen but secretly wish I had 5 homes to have individual looks in them all!
Oh good!!! I try to get the very best pictures that cover a range of styles while still keeping the standards high. I’ve said the EXACT same thing about wishing for multiple kitchens because even though I like mine, there are several that I adore!
It’s been taking me a while, but I’m getting better!! I have a LOT of posts in the hopper with so many pictures…I’m not sure if it is better to post often with less info or less often with more info?? So, I’m still trying to balance that!
Thank you for visiting and the kind words of encouragement!!
This is great! can’t wait to have the budget for the kitchen of my dreams 🙂

Some amazing kitchens here, I am with you on the black and white themes. I am aiming for Black and white with a hint of red as my theme but it is so expensive for a first time buyer who hates to cut corners on the aesthetic. Anyone know a good fitter in London?
Love these! Beautiful kitchens and a great post!

WOW!! These are amazing!!!
Thank you!!
The turquoise kitchen is fabulous!
Colors, Exactly what’s needed to make everything awesome! 🙂
Wait! Just one . . . more . . . okay, I got it! Sorry, I had a bit of drool on my chin after looking all those pictures.
Wow. You know I try not to make a habit of pining after things, but instead be grateful for the abundance in which I truly don’t deserve, but these pictures are coveticious (Made that up). I think you said “I’ll take one of everything” and I would have to second that! Amazing photos. One day, right?
Lol!!! Too funny…and that’s is SO how I feel!! It’s fun looking and even though some (ok, probably most!) of these are so, so expensive, I also look to see if there are any little things that I can use – like how they accessorized, paint colors, trim, molding, maybe some feature that I can figure out how to do myself.
How I put things on my mantle shelf in my kitchen is from a picture of a professionally designed kitchen 🙂 So, even though I can’t have the kitchens (booo!!!), I try to “lift” or learn things about them to maybe get a piece of them 🙂
But, I’m with you..one day!! And let’s be prepared for when that day comes!!
Exactly! I couldn’t have said it better myself. You take elements and color palates and implement them into what you already have (or what you can afford!). These photos were from House Beautiful, right? I just ordered this magazine with a deal I found on Groupon, and I am super-duper excited to start receiving it in print! I’m the same way with books; I can read with a media device, but I simply adore holding something tangible while I’m inspired 🙂
Yes, I agree. We shall be prepared for those shiny ranges and colorful appliances should they ever come our way! 🙂
The pictures from this post are from House Beautiful (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!), Elle Decor, and from the cabinet makers’ websites. I like holding things too, but my little one scribbles on things still. Luckily, I have all my Architectural Digests up high – I save ALL the issues, even though some of the designs are too modern/highbrow/??? I don’t know what the word is…
I have another post almost finished on more kitchens with color. I’m still learning the ropes and have had problems with formatting 😦 Pictures covering words, etc…then I lost a bunch of pictures, but I’m getting there!!
Love that stealth kitchen! Great kitchens all and all though, thanks for sharing!
I adore the light fixtures, especially the round ones in the industrial kitchen and the mirrored drums. I am working on the design for the kitchen in our new house (still about five years out) and will be scrutinizing quite a few designs before I settle on the elements I will use.
I already know it will be a red/orange room (Orange makes you hungry.) which will stream into an orange dining room. (Think about it…all Tuscan restaurants have orange dining rooms.)
Lovely photographs and some divine ideas…especially those glorious islands.
Red.
Exquisite site! You are awesome. I’d hang out in Meg Ryan’s kitchen forever!
I love the island in picture 6!!
i love the bright kitchens! my philosophy is the brighter the better 🙂
xo
I can’t pick a favorite, I think I have about 5!
Just look at these amazing kitchens. Yes, I can totally see myself cooking dinner in just about any of these kitchens. Thanks for sharing these 🙂
Gorgeous!
Ooooo…the red range…I love it so much.
Now you’ve done it. I want a new kitchen! This is a great collection of images to get the imagination churning…
I love colorful kitchens! My husband and I have been together 11 years, and have 2 kids, but we’ve never owned a house. We’ve always rented. I SO look forward to the day that buy our first house, and I can create my happy little kitchen oasis.
~Daniél
Oh my gosh, that first photo. Is going to haunt me. It’s beautiful!
Lovely blog, by the way.. Off to check it out some more!
I wish i had a picture to send you of my last kitchen in the 1898 victorian I owned before moving south. I had the walls painted a deep royal purple with stark white cabinets/island etc. it was an amazing house with amazing details.
thanks for stopping in to my blog, because it allowed me to find yours! 🙂
Yes, have always loved the black and white! Lovely kitchens, and ideas. You may want to check out Martha Stewart’s blog. She shows the exteriors and interiors of her main house and others on the property in NY, plus her Maine house, at different times of the year for different celebrations. Her interiors are WOW. She is probably responsible for making grey color schemes in kitchens with stainless steel so poplular. She has a degree in architectural history and has helped to poplularize architectural elements applications that I don’t believe were being done by the magazines. Now they are following her.
So gorgeous! I loved the black-n-white tile floor, the La Cornue ranges and cabinets – but most of all, the kitchen-that-wasn’t-a-kitchen. I’ll bet cooking in any of these would be an unmitigated pleasure, what with all the space and colour and more importantly – this strange way of comforting the eyes whichever way you look.
I really like the turquoise kitchen!
The first one looks like a Dutch painting

Gorgeous, when can I move in.
Love the HouseBeautiful picture with the lime green and white. Gorgeous!
How about this for a truly colourful kitchen: http://pinterest.com/pin/94153448429789286/
I love this picture, although I actually have a white kitchen myself, but use colourful vintage textiles on my kitchen table and chairs.
I love color in the kitchen! Particularly yellows… although my kitchen is currently bright orange. It makes me happy every time I’m in it!
Very nicely curated! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I have enjoyed reading through yours too. Love your passion for architectural details and that you have the gumption and skill to do-it-yourself, something I’ve never been good at!
Love color in the kitchen, really I love color anywhere. Makes everything so cozy and happy. Beautiful blog, so inspiring!
Love color, and your collection of kitchens makes me want to go cook in my own… which happens to be a great shade of green.
Oh my Gods! I LOVE the La Cornue! All of it! If I ever have the opportunity to build my own kitchen it will be a large farmhouse style kitchen (because my family lives in my kitchen) and now will feature La Cornue. Fantastic blog. I kept saying to myself “Oooh that’s my favourite kitchen! No that one is! No! That one!” But when it comes right down to it it’s tied at the La Cornue green and Meg Ryan’s kitchen.
Now, if I can find a way to combine the two…
I love a fantastic kitchen (colors and styles). You have a very nice site.
